World Boxing Championship: Büşra Işıldar and Şeyma Düztaş in the semi-finals

Büşra Işıldar and Şeyma Düztaş secured medals by advancing to the semi-finals at the World Boxing Championship.

Four national boxers entered the ring in the afternoon session of the championship held in Liverpool, Britain.

In the women's 75-kilogram (175-pound) category, Büşra Işıldar faced Britain's Mary-Kate Smith. Işıldar defeated her opponent 5-0, advancing to the semifinals and becoming the first Turkish athlete to secure a medal at the championships.

Büşra Işıldar will face Australian Sue Emma Greentree in the semi-finals on Saturday, September 13.

After Büşra, Şeyma Düztaş, who entered the ring at +80 kg, achieved significant success in her career.

Competing against Noof Alyousef from Saudi Arabia in the quarterfinals, Şeyma managed to make her opponent count in the first round and won the match by referee decision.

The 23-year-old national boxer secured a medal by advancing to the semi-finals for the first time in the world championship in the senior category.

The national athlete will enter the ring on Saturday, September 12, against Indian Nupur Sheoran in the semi-finals.

Hatice Akbaş lost 5-0 to Sirine Charaabi from Italy in the women's 54kg quarterfinals and was eliminated from the tournament.

In the men's 90-kilogram category, Emrah Yaşar faced Loren Berto Alfonso Domingues of Azerbaijan in the quarterfinals. He lost the closely contested match 3-2, losing his chance at a medal.
