At the start of the tournament, Serbia was ranked first in FIBA's power rankings , and sports commentators were predicting Serbia as one of the two heavy favorites for the tournament, along with Germany.

The national team, which finished Group A ahead of Serbia, was paired with Sweden, which finished fourth in Group B.

In an evaluation of Turkey on FIBA's website, the play of Cedi Osman and Shane Larkin was emphasized and the following was said:

"We warned you about this team. We told you not to underestimate them because they had a record of three wins and two losses in friendly matches, but to be honest, we underestimated them too, ranking them only sixth in the previous power rankings.

Alperen Şengün has been a real joy to watch so far. The 'Big Three' of Şengün, Shane Larkin, and Cedi Osman are averaging nearly 50 points per game and shooting 58 percent from the field.

Türkiye averaged 91.8 points in the group stage, fourth in points scored behind Germany (105.8), Slovenia (93.8) and France (92.2).

Türkiye's most notable statistic after the five-game group stage is outside shooting. After a subpar performance from three-point range in the preseason games, the 12 Giant Men lead the tournament with 49.2 percent shooting. Greece follows with 45.6 percent.

The national team also shares the lead with Serbia in assists per game with 13.8.

Alperen Şengün, who was selected as an All-Star last season with the Houston Rockets in the NBA and gained his first playoff experience in his fourth season, showed that he is a candidate to be the leading player in the tournament from the first match against Latvia.

Şengün was rested by coach Ergin Ataman in games where the lead widened. Through the first four games, he averaged 20 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in 27.2 minutes.

In the final match against Serbia, where the group's top scorer would be determined, Şengün played 36 minutes, notching 28 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists, and even dominated the close final minutes. Türkiye emerged victorious, 95-90.

Şengün is the tournament's sixth-leading scorer with a 21.6-point average through five games. He is fourth in rebounds per game with 9.6 and third-leading in assists with 6.8.
