TÜİK's data did not find a response on the counters! "There is a credit book even in the market"

TÜİK's data did not find a response on the counters! "There is a credit book even in the market"

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced the inflation data for June. According to TurkStat, monthly inflation in June was 1.37 percent, while it decreased to 35.05 percent annually. The six-month inflation rate was 16.67 percent.

However, TÜİK's data did not find a response in the market.

Tele1 reporter Ceren Ural reported the pulse of the economy from a market in Sultangazi, Istanbul. A kilo of plums was on the stalls for 250 TL and a kilo of cherries for 500 TL.

A vendor speaking to the Tele1 microphone said, “Things are a bit weak right now, although they should normally be more active at this hour. To be frank. We bought all the eggs you see here for 110 liras, we are selling them for 110 liras. Maybe we will sell one or two so that those who buy eggs will also buy olives. We bought them for 110 liras to attract this customer, we are selling them for 110 liras. We have no profit. At least we are trying to make a profit from olives instead of making a profit from eggs, but when you see that it is not working. We sold 500 cartons last week, but in the weeks before that we were selling up to 1,500 cartons of eggs. Right now, I have only sold 4 eggs since this morning. In other words, people are now afraid to shop. I don’t know how it will work.

“ONE NOTEBOOK IS FILLED, THE SECOND NOTEBOOK IS FILLED”

The vendor, who stated that his customers were not able to make purchases as before, showed the credit ledger that the customers had printed:

"Our high-quality customers used to shop from us and now they just come and say can we do credit? When the salary is deposited. But you are surprised. You see, this customer has never done anything like this before. If you want, I can show you the credit book. One book is full, the second book is full."
