National athlete Zeliha Nur Kamaç wants to leave her mark on the Islamic Solidarity Games

19-year-old national athlete Kamaç, who won the silver medal at the World Muaythai Championship held in Greece last year, told AA that he is working hard to get to the top of the podium in international championships.

Stating that he was preparing for the Islamic Solidarity Games, one of the multi-sport organizations held between the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and organized every four years, Kamaç noted that he worked hard under the supervision of his coach for the gold medal.

Kamaç said, "I came second in the World Muaythai Championship held in Greece in 2024, I hope to win championships this year. I want to experience the pride of winning the gold medal and raising our star and crescent flag at the Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia between August 6-15, 2025."

Expressing that he wants to set an example with his successes, Kamaç said that the International Olympic Committee recognizes the Muay Thai branch and that this sport is expected to be included in the Olympic Games programs in March.

Kamaç pointed out that among his goals is to be eligible to represent Turkey if Muay Thai is included in the Olympic sports category, and emphasized that becoming an Olympic champion is his biggest dream.

Coach Urlu: "We will be in Riyadh for the gold medal"

Coach Yasin Urlu also noted that Kamaç has many national and international degrees and championships in Muay Thai.

Urlu, who explained that they gave special importance to the development of Kamaç by discovering his talent for the sport of Muay Thai, said:

"Our athlete became champion in the Turkish Championship held in Erzincan in 2018. He became champion again in 2019 in the same organization. After that, he earned the right to participate in the world championship. He won his first world championship in 2019. Then he continued his undefeated path in the EMF camp. He became 3rd in the world in Malaysia in 2022. He became 2nd in the world in the championship held in Athens in 2024. He wants to become world champion this year and is currently doing his training devotedly."

Urlu said, "Zeliha earned the right to participate in the Islamic Solidarity Games with her determination. If God allows, we will be in Riyadh in August to win the gold medal."

She started to lose weight

Zeliha Nur Kamaç, a student at Antalya Bilim University's Computer Engineering Department, started Muay Thai 7 years ago with the guidance of her mother and achieved great success in a short time.

Kamaç, who previously wore the national jersey in the "stars" and "youth" categories, has achieved success in many national and international championships.

Kamaç, who started Muay Thai to lose weight and live a healthy life, first came across the branch while watching television.
