Nikhil Sosale, the head of the team's marketing department, was detained in connection with the incident that took place after the team beat the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. According to reports in the Indian press, Sosale, who was detained at the airport in Bengaluru, and the executive of an event management company are also in custody. STATE PRIME MINISTER BLAMES POLICE The stampede that led to the deaths of 11 fans has caused widespread public outrage. The city's police commissioner has also been suspended in connection with the incident. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had previously announced that legal action had been taken against the team's representatives and the organizers of the event. Siddaramaiah, who only has one name, had also held several senior police officials responsible for the stampede. The state chief minister, who claimed that these officers were irresponsible and negligent, announced that a decision had been made to remove them from office. According to information reflected in the press after the incident, most of those who died in the stampede were between the ages of 14 and 29. The team described the incident as “unfortunate” and announced that $11,655 would be given to the families of those who lost their lives. According to the Indian press, the team will receive $2.3 million in prize money just for being the league champion.
