War? Israelis understand "political motives"

The Israeli government's decision to intensify its offensive in the Gaza Strip was due to "political motives", according to a poll by Israeli Channel 12 published this Friday.
For these respondents, the government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given in to far-right coalition partners, who want the conflict to escalate.
In contrast, according to the survey , cited by the Times of Israel, 36% of Israelis argue that there were “substantial reasons” for the intensification of the conflict.
However, only 25% of respondents agree that the goal of “destroying Hamas” should take priority over freeing the hostages. Thus, 61% believe that freeing the hostages and ending the war should be the priority.
Furthermore, 78% of respondents oppose the suspension of a commission of inquiry to investigate the failures of October 7, 2023, which allowed Hamas to attack Israeli territory.
