Tavira Nautical Club wins Perpetual Optimist Trophy

Clube Náutico de Tavira once again won the Perpetual Trophy in the Optimist class, 25 years after its last victory, by becoming Portuguese Team Champion in the Portuguese Sailing Schools Cup.

The competition featured a fleet of 71 boats, and the club's junior sailors also excelled individually. Individual standouts included Diana Costa, who placed 1st in the women's category, 2nd in the children's category, and 4th overall; Maria Luísa Carmo, who placed 3rd in the women's category, 5th in the children's category, 9th overall, and was awarded the youngest female athlete; Vasco Reis, who placed 7th in the children's category and 10th overall; Matilde Costa, who placed 4th in the women's category and 13th overall; Inês Silva, who placed 18th overall; Ariana Gago, who placed 21st overall; and Mafalda Sousa, who placed 66th overall.

"Congratulations to the entire team for your hard work, dedication, and dignity in representing the colors of Clube Náutico de Tavira," the club said on social media.

The Tavira City Council congratulated the club on its triumph and praised the athletes' individual performances, highlighting their commitment and dedication. "Congratulations on your commitment and dedication! Long live Tavira and its sport!" the municipality emphasized on social media.
