Portugal is preparing to face Hungary again this Tuesday, in a match that could confirm direct qualification for the 2026 World Cup , at the José Alvalade Stadium.
To achieve this, Portugal needs to defeat the Hungarians again and hope that Armenia doesn't win against the Republic of Ireland . Only then will they be able to celebrate at home before the final two rounds scheduled for November.
As for Roberto Martínez's starting eleven, there is one thing that is certain: it will not be the same one used against the Republic of Ireland (1-0) last Saturday, especially given the injury (and release) of Gonçalo Inácio.
Furthermore, there may be other strategic changes on the part of the national coach, with an eye on access to the 2026 World Cup.
