Luisa Stefani celebrates her victory at the WTA Finals and is excited to secure a spot in the semifinals.

Luisa Stefani, number 1 in Brazil, and the Hungarian Timea Babos, recovered, this Tuesday (4), and won in the second round of the WTA Finals, a tournament with the eight best partnerships of the year held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Brazilian and the Hungarian defeated the Russians Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider by 2 sets to 1, with partial scores of 7/5, 2/6 and 10-7.
This Thursday (6), at 9 am (Brasília time), the São Paulo native and the European will face the Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and the New Zealander Erin Routliffe, in a game that is worth a direct spot in the semifinals. Luisa will seek to be the first Brazilian in history in the semifinals of the competition. Bia Haddad Maia was defeated in the group stage in doubles in 2022, alongside the Kazakh Anna Danilina.
The event is one of the biggest in the world, second only in importance to the Grand Slams, and features the eight best partnerships of the year. It is played in a different format, a round-robin, meaning in two groups, with the two best partnerships advancing to the semifinals.
"An important victory today. A game with a lot of ups and downs, and once again decided by details in the super tiebreak. Despite the second set, we raised our energy and level to close out the game, playing well in the third," said the athlete, sponsored by Banco BRB, BRB Seguros, Parmalat Whey Fit, and Slyce, and supported by Liga Tênis 10, Bolsa Atleta, Head, and JFL Living. "I'm excited for the next challenge and for the opportunity to play a great game that qualifies us for the semifinals. It's for moments like these that we play, and once again, we're going into this next match with confidence," she concluded.
Stefani and Babos have won four titles this year, including three WTA 500 titles in Linz, Austria, Tokyo, Japan, and Strasbourg, France, and the SP Open, a WTA 250 event in São Paulo.
