Lions and Eagles decide title between Lisbon and Braga

Lions and Eagles decide title between Lisbon and Braga
  • Just like in the fight for the title, V. Guimarães and Santa Clara go into this final round tied on 54 points, but with the advantage for the Vitória team in the head-to-head. Therefore, Luís Freire's team must replicate the results of the Azoreans.

    V. Guimarães will be fifth if:

    • Win;
    • Draw as long as Santa Clara doesn't win;
    • Lose as long as Santa Clara loses.

    Santa Clara will be fifth if:

    • Win as long as V. Guimarães doesn't win;
    • Draw as long as V. Guimarães loses.
  • The third place finish, which gives direct access to the Europa League, is much simpler. FC Porto is three points ahead of Sp. Braga and has a seven-goal advantage, so they will only avoid finishing last on the podium if they win twice.

    FC Porto finishes third if:

    • Win or draw;
    • Lose and Sp. Braga doesn't win;
    • Losing as long as Sp. Braga wins and doesn't overturn the seven-goal disadvantage.

    Sp. Braga finishes third if:

    • Win, FC Porto lose and cancel out the seven-goal disadvantage.
  • Starting with the fight for the title, the scenarios are much easier than those that appeared before the derby. With Sporting and Benfica tied at 79 points, the Lions have the advantage due to the head-to-head record, motivated by the victory in the Alvalade derby (1-0). Thus, Rui Borges' team "only" has to replicate the result of Bruno Lage's team, who are obliged to do better than their rivals.

    Sporting is champion if:

    • To win;
    • Draw as long as Benfica doesn't win;
    • Lose as long as Benfica loses.

    Benfica is champion if:

    • Win as long as Sporting doesn't win;
    • Draw and Sporting lose.
  • Before the final seven matches, this is how the standings look in terms of the fight for the title, for Europe and for survival.

    • 2. Benfica (79) — Champions League 3rd qualifying round

    • 5th V. Guimarães (54) — 2nd qualifying round of the Conference League
