Kaden Groves 'fled' to win his first Tour de France race

Australian cyclist Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) made his debut victory in the Tour de France today, winning the 20th stage from the breakaway, on a day in which the yellow jersey Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) maintained the gap in the overall standings.
In his first Tour appearance, the two-time winner of the Vuelta points classification (2023 and 2024) completed the trilogy in Grand Tours, by standing out from his fellow breakaway riders in the final 16 kilometres of the 184.2 between Nantua and Pontarlier, which he completed in 04:06.08 hours, ahead of the Dutch Frank van den Broek (Picnic-PostNL), second 54 seconds behind, and Pascal Eenkhoorn (Soudal Quick-Step), third 59.
The penultimate stage brought no changes to the overall standings, with Slovenian Tadej Pogacar leading with a 4.24 minute advantage over Dane Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike), with German Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) completing the podium.
On Sunday, the reigning champion will confirm his fourth victory in the Tour de France on the 132.3-kilometer leg between Mantes-la-Ville and Paris, with the final stage featuring an unprecedented passage on the Montmartre hill, a fourth-category climb that the peloton will climb three times, the last of which is six kilometers from the finish.
