João Almeida finished third after another victory for his team

Spanish cyclist Marc Soler won the 14th stage of the Vuelta a España today, arriving in La Farrapona, while Portuguese rider João Almeida, also from UAE Emirates, finished third and lost time to the overall leader.
Soler, 31, completed the 135.9 kilometers between Avilés and La Farrapona in 3:48.22 hours, 39 seconds faster than the Danish rider Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike), the overall leader who beat João Almeida for second place in the stage.
In the overall standings, the two-second bonus allows Vingegaard to regain a time advantage over the Portuguese rider, who on Saturday had won the 13th stage and moved closer to the red jersey, with Almeida in second, 48 seconds behind the leader, with the British rider Tom Pidcock (Q36.5) in third, 2.38 minutes behind.
On Sunday, the 15th stage of the Vuelta connects A Veiga to Monforte de Lemos, with 167.8 timed kilometers, before the race's final rest day on Monday.
