Football: Naval and Ançã discuss AFC Cup on Saturday in Coimbra

The culmination of the sports season, the final of the AF Coimbra Cup is always a day of celebration in district football. This year, the decisive match has an extra curiosity: the district champion (Naval) is one of the finalists, something that only happened for the last time in 2019 (Condeixa).
It is worth mentioning that, right after that final, when Condeixa defeated Sourense, the AF Coimbra Cup began to show a clear pattern: the winner always comes from the municipality of Cantanhede, but it is never the district champion. This year, there will once again be a team from Cantanhede in the decisive game, Ançã, but the Figueira team will want to reverse the trend.
Another interesting fact about this final is Ançã's automatic qualification for the 2025/2026 Portuguese Cup, joining the district champion and runner-up, Naval and Sourense, respectively.
Yesterday, at the public presentation of the final, coaches and directors from both finalist clubs were unanimous in their prediction: it will be a great game, on an excellent stage, the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra, and with two of the best teams of the 2024/2025 season of district football.
