Portugal and Hungary meet again this Tuesday in Group F of the qualifying phase for the 2026 World Cup, roughly a month after Portugal's hard-fought victory in Hungary (2-3).
To remember the last time the two teams faced off on home soil, we have to go back to March 25, 2017, when the team then led by Fernando Santos won 3-0, with the opening goal from André Silva (32') and a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo (36' and 65') in the qualifying phase for the 2018 World Cup.
This meeting, remember, took place at Estádio da Luz, with the rematch taking place a little further away, at Estádio José Alvalade.
It's worth noting that Portugal's head-to-head record is largely favorable, with a record of 11 wins and four draws in a total of 15 matches. This means Hungary has yet to beat the Portuguese national team.
