CBF appeals to the STF and tries to keep Ednaldo Rodrigues as president

The Brazilian Football Confederation ( CBF ) went to the Federal Supreme Court ( STF ) against the decision of the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice (TJRJ) to remove Ednaldo Rodrigues from the presidency of the entity.
"There is no doubt, therefore, that maintaining the effects of the contested decision will seriously compromise the authority of the Supreme Federal Court, creating a scenario of institutional instability, a breach of legal certainty and discrediting of the decisions of this Court within the national and international legal community," said the CBF's request.
According to the CBF, the STF would have to recognize the illegality of Sarney's appointment as interventor and asks that Minister Gilmar Mendes' decision be upheld so that the elected leaders remain in the confederation.
Ednaldo Rodrigues was removed from office following a decision by Judge Gabriel de Oliveira Zefiro, of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro (TJ-RJ), after Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), requested an investigation into fraud in the signature of the former president of the entity, Colonel Nunes, in the agreement that had stabilized Ednaldo in the position.
Ednaldo claims that there was no falsification. An appeal is still possible. Since the decision was made by a single judge (defined by only one judge), it is possible to file an internal appeal, which functions as a resource used to challenge single judge decisions. The objective would be to bring the issue to the attention of the collegiate body so that it can rule on it. This move can be made by the CBF, by an injured third party or by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The entity may appeal to higher authorities, in accordance with the Code of Civil Procedure. The CBF may also attempt to file embargoes, appeals or special and extraordinary appeals.
