Camping and GRECAS remain in the 2nd Division of athletics

The São João da Madeira Camping Club and the GRECAS de Vagos will continue to compete in the 2nd national Division in the next sports season, after having guaranteed their place in the men's sector of this championship, which crowned the Marinha Grande Athletics Club as national champion, with 122 points, with Maia Atlético Clube (118) winning the women's title. On the athletics track at the Dr. Magalhães Pessoa Municipal Stadium in Leiria, the São João del-São João club finished fifth overall with 102 points, while the Vagos club finished sixth with 87 points, avoiding the last two relegation spots. However, the individual performances of some of their athletes contributed significantly to these results, with first, second, and third place finishes.
Filipe Vital e Silva, Campismo's M40 veteran (pictured), was the standout performer, winning both the shot put and discus. In the first competition, with a 14.50-meter opening throw that surpassed the marks of under-23 David Pereira (14.10) of CA Marinha Grande and senior Adriano Lopes (13.94) of Sp. Braga, the thrower from the São João da Madeira club repeated the feat in the second competition with a 49.39-meter opening throw, more than three meters ahead of the second-place thrower, Ricardo Freitas (46.39) of GRECAS, and Jonas Burgmann (45.62) of CPT Sobral de Ceira.
