Accident followed by collision kills man in Viana do Castelo

A man aged around 40 died today after an accident on the National Road (EN) 305, in Alvarães, district of Viana do Castelo, a source from the local Sapadores revealed to Lusa.

The alert was given at 15:45, for a skid followed by a collision with a post, which resulted in the death of one of the occupants of the light passenger vehicle and caused minor injuries to another person, added a source from the Alto Minho Sub-Regional Command.

Traffic on the EN 305 was partially closed to provide assistance to victims and for an expert assessment to understand the circumstances of the accident, but by 7:00 pm traffic was back to normal without restrictions, the source added.

The deceased was taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Viana do Castelo and the injured man was taken to the local hospital, the source added, also mentioning that the GNR in Viana do Castelo took charge of the incident.
