17-year-old from Goiás shines at home and makes it to the semi-finals in Rio Verde (GO)

Henrique Medeiros, a 17-year-old from Quirinópolis, Goiás, continues to shine at home in the international BT 200 tournament in Rio Verde (GO), held at Clube Campestre, the biggest competition in the sport in the state. The event distributes US$ 15 thousand in prizes and gives more than 200 points to the champions.
Henrique and his partner from Minas Gerais, Victor Gonzaga, won the double round, beating the Italian Alessandro Galetti and the Brazilian Maurício Mola 6/3 7/5 in the round of 16, and in the quarterfinals they defeated the world champion for Brazil, Thales Santos, former top 3, and Airton Macedo 4/6 6/1 10/8, turning the match tie-break where they were losing 8 to 5.
After the victory, Henrique ran to hug his family full of emotion: "Very happy, very grateful for having this opportunity to experience this. I thank Vitinho for taking on the challenge, God and the fans. It's very special for me to be with my family, my sponsors," said Henrique.
He and Gonzaga will seek a place in the final this Sunday against the number 2 seeds, Brazilians Renzo Amancio and João Wiesinger.
The other semi will be between the two-time world champion, Spaniard Antomi Ramos and Brazilian Daniel Mola, another top 10, against the third favorite duo between Gustavo Russo and Marcelo Reck.
In the women's bracket, the favorites Flaminia Daina, top 10 in the world and from Italy, and the Brazilian Raquel Iotte will face the duo of Julia Nogueira and Ana Preisner. The other semi-final will be between the second seeds, the Italian Giulia Trippa and the Minas Gerais native Graziele Silva against Isabela Garrido and Lorena Melo, the fifth seeds.
