In the first set, the Berlin Recycling Volleys players dominated their opponents. They had a clear advantage in attack and block. At one point, the hosts were leading as much as 22:9, and the set was closed by a successful attack by Moritz Reichert (25:13).
The second set also lasted for a long time with the Berliners in the lead (8:5, 16:12). At 16:19 there was an unexpected turn of events - the guests' point series went on Simon Torwie's serves (19:21). The team from Luneburg surprised their rivals and also won the key actions of the set. Xander Ketrzynski won the set point (22:24), and Michael Wright, breaking the ball, won the last point (23:25).
After an even start to the third set (11:11), the SVG Luneburg volleyball players started to build an advantage. They started again with a good serve - Theo Mohwinkel sent an ace (12:15), they added effective play in attack and maintained the advantage (15:19). After the opponents' serve into the net, the guests had a set point (20:24), but the team from Berlin defended in three actions. In the end, however, Xander Ketrzynski decided about the victory of the visitors, attacking after the opponents' block (23:25).
The Berlin Recycling Volleys players found themselves up against the wall. The fourth set was full of emotions. An even start (8:8), then the home team had an advantage, but the team from Luneburg reversed the result after two point blocks (15:16). In the end, the Berliners were leading 23:21, but their rivals equalized. The set was crowned by an advantage game, and the war of nerves was decided in BRV's favor by an attack from the middle by Florian Krage (27:25).
The tie-break was started better by the team from Berlin (4:0); an effective attack by Jake Hanes gave a five-point lead (8:3). After the break, the team from Luneburg started to make up for the losses - they won three consecutive actions (8:6), and then caught the contact (9:8). After an attack by Xander Ketrzynski, the guests made up for the losses in the end (12:12). Emotions reached their peak. The attack by the Berliners after the tape out gave the visitors a match point (13:14), but in the next action Krage attacked effectively. The hero of the last actions was Hanes, who first attacked effectively, and after a while served to the ninth meter line (17:15).
The quarter-finalist was to be determined by the golden set. It began with a minimal advantage for the guests (2:4, 6:8), who jumped three points after a mistake by their rivals (8:11). Later, they increased the difference to four points after an attack by Ketrzynski (9:13). Their own mistakes sank the Berliners; touching the net meant the score was 10:14.
