Polish sailors will compete in three regattas from Monday. The Chinese Qingdao will host the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 World Championships, Split will host mixed crews in the 470 class, while Urla in Turkey will host the Formula Kite class, including the European Championships.

These are the first championship events in Olympic disciplines this season. Until now, sailors have had the opportunity to test their form in two World Cups - in Mallorca and Hyeres, and in smaller competitions organized by individual classes.

In Split, among the 37 mixed duets from 14 countries there were three Polish crews - Agnieszka Skrzypulec-Szota (YKP Szczecin) and Szymon Wierzbicki (CŻ Szczecin), Rafał Pogorzelski (MKS Dwójka Warszawa) and Iga Wielczyk (MOS SSW Iława) and Agnieszka Pawłowska (ChKŻ Chojnice) and Tomasz Lewandowski (AZS AWFiS Gdańsk).

The previous Old Continent championship in the 470 class took place in Cannes, and the medalists who came to Croatia included champion Jordi Xammar (a Spaniard who is also last year's world championship winner, sailing with a new crew member, Marta Cardona) and the silver medalists, Portuguese Diogo Costa and Carolina Joao.

The most important event in this class – the world championships – will be held in Gdynia on June 6-14.

21 women from 14 countries and 38 men from 19 countries will be at the start in Urli near Izmir in the European Championships in the Formula Kite class.

Poles swimming in Turkey will include Julia Damasiewicz (OŚ AZS Poznań), Izabela Satrjan (UKŻ Wiking Toruń) and Magdalena Woyciechowska (SKŻ Ergo Hestia Sopot) as well as Jakub Balewicz (SKŻ Ergo Hestia Sopot) and Jan Marciniak (Aqua Włocławek).

Last year, Frenchmen Lauriane Nolot and Axel Mazella stood on the top step of the podium in Los Alcazares, Spain, and were among those competing in the event.

The ILCA and 470 class regattas will finish on Saturday, while the Formula Kite class will finish on Monday.
