Men's quadruple sculls in the World Championship semi-finals

The four-man doubles team consisting of Dominik Czaja, Piotr Płomiński, Jakub Woźniak and Konrad Domański took second place in the preliminary heat and advanced to the semi-finals of the World Rowing Championships, which began in Shanghai on Sunday.
The Poles achieved a time of 5:46.39 in the qualifying race, losing more than two and a half seconds to the fastest Germans.
On Tuesday, they will play in the semi-finals and fight for a place in the top three, which will guarantee participation in the A final.

The Polish national team will compete in this event in China with an almost completely different lineup than at last year's Olympics. Only Czaja remains from the bronze-medal-winning crew in Paris. Mirosław Ziętarski and Mateusz Biskup will compete in the double sculls in Shanghai, while Fabian Barański has withdrawn from competing this season.
The Polish rowers, however, were unsuccessful in the quadruple sculls competition. Julia Rogiewicz, Anna Khlibenko, Zuzanna Lesner, and Barbara Jęchorek finished fourth in their heat, recording a time of 6:18.18. The Polish rowers failed to advance to the A final – their result was just 0.36 seconds behind the Canadians, who were the sixth team to complete the medal race.
The international rowing federation (World Rowing) has changed the format of its most important competitions this season. The repechage—in which crews defeated in qualifying had a second chance to advance to the next round—has been eliminated. Instead, the top two rowers in each heat advance, with the fastest crews completing the field.
Six Polish teams are competing in China. Ziętarski and Biskup will compete in the preliminary heats on Monday, along with Cezary Litka, who is competing in the single sculls. The world championships run until September 28th.
