Champions ejected from tournament! Shocking Nations League finals

Champions ejected from tournament! Shocking Nations League finals

The first day of the final tournament in China was uneventful. Italy defeated the Cubans, while the Chinese lost to Brazil – both in four sets.

On Thursday, the competition began with the quarterfinals, pitting Slovenia against France. The latter were undoubtedly the favorites, having won double Olympic gold (2021 and 2024) and last year's Nations League title (2024).

However, the Slovenians showed they can't be underestimated. Moreover, the Tricolors felt the strength of Slovenian volleyball, as France lost 1-3, thus bowing out of the tournament in China.

Toncek Stern led the Slovenians. The attacker scored 16 points, playing with a shooting efficiency of nearly 60 percent. Slovenia displayed a very solid performance, and the match itself was the best of the three quarterfinals so far at the Final Eight in China.
