Three seasons ago, King and Śląsk faced off in the Orlen Basket League final. Now, both teams are looking to reclaim their place on the Polish court, and they demonstrated that on Saturday in Wrocław. The match was thrilling and decided only in the final minutes. King extended its winning streak while simultaneously halting its opponents' winning streak.
The opening minutes of the game belonged to King, who even jumped out to a 12-point lead. King played a very team-oriented game, reigning supreme in the paint, and Tomasz Gielo was outstanding. The Polish international left the long break with 18 points and six rebounds. After a sluggish first quarter, Śląsk improved their efficiency and caused King increasing problems. In the final 15 minutes, the Szczecin team's lead shrank to just a few points, and a series of five successful three-pointers by Śląsk in the decisive quarter gave the hosts their second lead of the game. Roach's three-pointer allowed King to regain the advantage, but the outcome remained uncertain until the end. King's players missed three of their six free throws in the final minutes, and Sanon missed a three-pointer on the final play of the game that could have sent the game to overtime. (voivodeship)
