A great weekend for the Polish driver on the track in Barcelona!

A great weekend for the Polish driver on the track in Barcelona!

The penultimate round of the Euroformula Open series was a success for Tymek Kucharczyk. The young driver, supported by the OC Mubi comparison website, confirmed his excellent form. How did the competition unfold on the Barcelona track? What is the Pole's points lead over his most dangerous competitors for the EFO title?

Second place in qualifying

The weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock film. It began with an earthquake in qualifying, and then the tension steadily mounted throughout the races. More importantly, Tymek Kucharczyk played a starring role on the racing scene in Barcelona!

Our driver set the second fastest qualifying time, narrowly behind Yevan David. Tymek Kucharczyk's biggest rival for the overall EuroFormula Open championship, Michael Shin, finished only ninth. How did these results translate into the race?

Tymek Kucharczyk's confident victory

In the first race, Tymek Kucharczyk made a fantastic start! He overtook Yevan David before the first corner and took the lead. This allowed the Pole to complete the subsequent laps without having to battle with other competitors.

The Polish driver's outstanding and flawless driving earned him victory in the first race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya – his fifth victory of the Euroformula Open season. This added 25 points to Tymek Kucharczyk's overall standings, along with an additional point for the fastest lap!

More valuable points

The second race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya took place on Sunday with a slight delay due to morning rain. Tymek Kucharczyk started this time from the third row of the grid, number six. Thanks to another successful start, he quickly moved up to fifth place and battled with Alessandro Famularo, who was ahead of him.

After a few laps, Tymek Kucharczyk overtook the Venezuelan driver and moved into fourth place. The Pole retained this position for the rest of the race, gaining a valuable 12 points towards the overall EFO standings. His closest rivals finished second (Yevan David) and seventh (Michael Shin), respectively, earning them 18 and six points.

Crazy race in the rain

The Euroformula Open race weekend in Barcelona concluded with the third race, with the top six drivers from qualifying starting in reverse order. Tymek Kucharczyk, in accordance with the EFO formula, was placed fifth on the grid. However, it was the rain that caused the biggest disruption on the track!

Just before the start of the race, it began to rain. Tymek Kucharczyk's team decided to use wet tires. This tactic yielded excellent results at the start – the Pole quickly moved up to third place. Unfortunately, on the third lap, our driver veered off the track while fighting for position, allowing him to be overtaken by several rivals.

Additionally, the rain stopped, so the track began to dry out. Our driver remained on rain tires for the rest of the race, as they are slower on dry surfaces. Despite a fierce battle, Tymek Kucharczyk finished 7th. Michael Shin won the race, and Yevan David finished sixth.
