Toluca extended its unbeaten streak and took the lead in the 2025 Apertura tournament of the Liga MX Femenil after beating Xolas 3-1 in a matchday three match yesterday at Caliente Stadium in Tijuana.

Thanks to this result, the Mexican team, which has two wins and a draw, accumulated seven points and temporarily placed itself at the top of the overall standings, while the border team, which has not been able to win in the current tournament, remained in 15th place, with just one point.

The Scarlets took the lead in the 30th minute when Frenchwoman Eugénie Le Sommer took advantage of an assist in the box to shoot straight into the goal protected by Fedra Cota and make it 1-0.

The European forward herself extended the Red Devils' lead (2-0) at the start of the second half. In the 50th minute, she surprised everyone with a powerful right-footed shot to score her second goal, making it three goals in the competition.

Despite the second goal against them, the Xolas did not give up and managed to reduce the deficit in the 59th minute through Danielle Fuentes, who, after receiving a delayed pass, dared to shoot from long distance to beat the American goalkeeper Kayla Thompson and make it 2-1.

When it seemed the scoreboard would not move any further, at 90+2, the scarlet Betzy Cuevas unleashed a shot inside the area to seal the final 3-1.

Previously, in the opening match of the day, held at the Jalisco stadium, Atlas achieved its first victory in the competition after defeating Puebla 2-0 with goals from Brenda Cerén (79) and Renata Huerta (90).

With this victory, the red and black team rose to seventh place in the table, with four points, while the La Franja team remained in last place (18), without points.
