Thousands of fans accompany Barça on the champions' road

Thousands of fans accompany Barça on the champions' road

The party for the players and the board at a well-known nightclub in the upper part of Barcelona went on after the victory against Espanyol last Thursday . For many, it went until dawn. Some players, such as Dani Olmo, Pedri, Eric García, and Íñigo Martínez , even took advantage of a Barcelona City Council bicycle transfer service to go to Barcelona Hospital to celebrate with the convalescing Ferran Torres , who underwent appendicitis surgery on Wednesday. Given these circumstances, it's no surprise that the eagerly awaited celebration parade had a peculiar start. The players gathered at the training ground, all conveniently dressed in the same jersey, some with sleeves, others without, to be taken to Camp Nou, which was to be the starting point.

A huge crowd of fans had already gathered around the stadium, waiting for the departure, which the workers currently trying to speed up the Camp Nou construction project were privileged witnesses of. That's why the open-top bus carrying the Barça squad and staff , decorated with the club's colors and a photo featuring all the key players, with Hansi Flick in the center, moved much more slowly than expected. The crowd waiting for them there was just a taste of what they would find on their tour of the streets of Barcelona, with thousands of fans taking to the streets to celebrate a season, the club's 125th anniversary, studded with three titles . The route to follow was marked on the route's unique roadmap : Camp Nou, Travessera de Les Corts, Numancia, Berlin, a first official event at the junction with Avenida Tarradellas, Paris, Balmes, Pelai, with a second event at Plaça Catalunya, Fontanella, Trafalgar, and the final event, with the third and final celebration at the final stop: the Arc de Triomphe. Initially, it was three hours, but according to the initial plan, it ended up taking longer.

The front of the players' bus bore the same slogan as the one on the back of their commemorative shirts: El nostre estil, el nostre llegat (Our style, our legacy). Above it, with Flick always on hand to ensure things didn't get too out of hand, among some more ordinary caps, both Raphinha's carnival hat and Wojtech Szczesny 's seemingly more elegant one stood out. Apparently, because on the inside of the brim, as seen in a photo shared on social media, it bears the word "Smoker." The chant reminding him of this status, a common one when he puts in a good performance at Montjuïc, was one of the first chants chanted by the players, whose hands contained the usual beers, but also plenty of soft drinks. Perhaps predictable with so many young talents in their ranks. In the back of the bus, of course, conveniently escorted for a good while by Jules Koundé , Eric, and Íñigo, were the three trophies won this year: La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup. And, precisely inside the latter, there was a clear tribute to Ferran Torres, who had to follow him from his hospital room: a stuffed shark.

The fact that everything went a little behind schedule didn't, in the least, cause people to lose patience. There was a great desire to celebrate an emotionally charged season, and the Barcelona fans' connection with this team is absolute. "There's a spectacular connection between the city and the club. I'm very happy with what we've achieved this year, and I think it's a great achievement," said captain Marc-André ter Stegen in a statement to Barça One, the club's official media outlet. "The weather's good, people are eager to see us, and I'm very happy to celebrate with them," the German goalkeeper emphasized. "This team has a bright future ahead of it, with Flick and this generation of players. A great job has been done, and I hope to be here for many more years to come."
