The prosecution is seeking two and a half years in prison for Raúl Asencio.

The prosecution is seeking a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for Real Madrid footballer Raúl Asencio , accusing him of two crimes against the privacy of two women who participated in a consensual sexual encounter. The other three players involved, according to Cadena Ser, are also accused of distributing child pornography, as one of the victims is a minor.

The criminal proceedings, launched last May in a court in San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria), were initiated against Asencio and three other Real Madrid youth players ( Andrés García , Ferrán Ruiz and Juan Rodríguez ) for recording sexual images of two women, one of them a minor, and distributing them without their consent.

The prosecutor's brief details that García, Ruiz, and Rodríguez had consensual sexual relations with two girls in a private room of a hotel located in the south of Gran Canaria. "At a certain point during the sexual act, guided by the desire to undermine YYY's dignity and normal sexual development and the privacy of both YYY and XXX, Ferrán took out a mobile device and, without the consent of either of them, began recording the sexual act. Moments later, he passed the phone to Juan, who continued filming and photographing the encounter," the prosecutor's office states.

"Once the sexual relationship ended, Ferrán, Juan, and Andrés, with the same intention mentioned above, provided said photographs and recordings to third parties," the statement continues.

Asencio did not participate in the aforementioned sexual encounter, although he did want the video to show to a friend. He immediately deleted it afterward. However, the prosecution believes this behavior should not go unpunished, even if it is not as intense as that sought for the other three defendants.

The incident occurred on June 15, 2023, and the alleged victims, aged 16 and 18 at the time, are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to the court ruling.

On May 15, Asencio issued a statement defending his innocence. "I have not participated in any behavior that violates the sexual freedom of any woman, much less minors," he argued in his statement.

From the debut to the Club World Cup

After making his first-team debut on November 9th against Osasuna at the Bernabéu, Asencio established himself as a defensive pillar for Carlo Ancelotti . He made 46 appearances across six competitions this season, forming a central defensive partnership with Antonio Rüdiger .

However, after that promising start, his performance began to decline as the season progressed. During the last Club World Cup, Asencio made two glaring errors against Pachuca and PSG. The first, against Salomón Rondón , earned him a straight red card in the 11th minute. Against the reigning Champions League champions, the center-back made a mistake in the 9th minute, handing Ousmane Dembélé a 2-0 lead.
