More misfortune? Impossible.

The crisis in Gaza is over, or so claims Nobel Peace Prize hopeful Donald Trump, while bombs continue to whiz through the sky over the Strip, projecting onto its buildings and hospitals, killing (now, killing quietly).
Trump's focus is capricious. After resolving Gaza , it's time to deal with Ukraine. And, if necessary, the Colombian narco-state , or so the US president calls it.
There are no Israeli gymnasts at the Jakarta World Championships: the world has banned them. The Gaza issue is resolved with a twenty-point plan forced by the future Nobel Peace Prize winner, which Netanyahu completely ignores. In English, Netanyahu says yes. In Hebrew, he says whatever he wants. In Hebrew, he says there will be no Palestinian state, no withdrawal, and his army will remain where it always has been. Supplies will enter the Strip whenever Netanyahu wants.
While Trump looks the other way, the international community keeps its focus on the Israeli prime minister , but that doesn't matter.
Above, the bigwigs applaud each other.
Below, people pay for it.
It is paid for, for example, by six Israeli gymnasts, and among them the fabulous Artem Dolgopyat (by the way, Dolgopyat is of Ukrainian origin: geopolitically he goes from Guatemala to guatepeor ).
There are no Israeli gymnasts at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships being held in Jakarta (I know, with all that's happening in Gaza, this seems like minor collateral damage. But if you're Dolgopyat, a double Olympic podium finisher and 2023 world champion, and you make a living off of this, you can't be very happy either).
Artem Dolgopyat, with his world gold, on October 7, 2023, in Antwerp
Yves Herman / REUTERSToday, Israeli gymnasts are outcasts, as the world has decided: Indonesia has denied them visas to enter the country, and the International Gymnastics Federation and the International Olympic Committee have decided to look the other way, playing the role of Pontius Pilate.
–The matter is beyond our jurisdiction –both organizations wash their hands.

And Dolgopyat mourns his misfortune, finding no way to celebrate his successes: now they won't let him; two years ago, they wouldn't let him either. The coincidence is grotesque: on October 7, 2023, while Hamas was launching its attack on the Reim music festival and a range of nearby kibbutzim, Dolgopyat was seizing world gold on the ground in Antwerp.
Since then, there has been no peace for anyone, neither for the Palestinians nor for the Israelis nor for the unfortunate Dolgopyat, who ended up auctioning his gold medal to help the victims of Hamas, thinking he would win another one at another time, and who now finds himself more alone than ever while the bigwigs of all stripes happily claim the Nobel Peace Prize and say that's it, that it's over.
PS: If he were still Ukrainian, Dolgopyat would be better off...
