Liga MX announces the 2025 Apertura schedule

This Wednesday, the Liga MX schedule for the 2025 Apertura Tournament was officially announced , which will begin next Friday, July 11, with the match between Puebla and Atlas.

The regular season will run from July 11 to November 9 , so after the 17-day tournament, the Play-In will begin at the end of November, followed by the final phase of the championship.

Among the highlights is the duel between Toluca and Necaxa, which will be held on July 12th. This match will mark the champion's debut in the 2025 Apertura Tournament.

The most important duel of the season will have a peculiarity, as the Clásico Nacional between América and Chivas will be played next Friday, September 12 , being one of the first matches between the two teams that is not played on Saturday or Sunday.

The Clásico Tapatío will be played at the Estadio Akron on matchday 15 of the championship, so the duel between Guadalajara teams will take place on Saturday, October 25.

After Matchday 3, Liga MX will go on hiatus following the 2025 Leagues Cup, which will be held from July 29 to August 7. Therefore, Mexican league play will be halted for nine days to allow for the first phase of the tournament.

The final phase of the competition between Liga MX and MLS clubs will be played alongside the Mexican championship , so the quarterfinal matches will be on August 19 and 20, the semifinal from August 26 to 27, and the grand final and the duel for third place on August 31.

There will be three FIFA World Cup matches this semester . The first will take place after Matchday 7 and will run from September 1 to 10. The second will take place after Matchday 13 and will run from October 6 to 15, and after the regular season, from November 10 to 19.

Why won't Chivas play their first two matches at home?

Guadalajara is one of the teams that modified its schedule since Matchday 1. Although Chivas opens at home against Tigres on Matchday 1, the game against the university team will not be played until Wednesday, October 17, as part of the modifications to Akron Stadium in preparation for the World Cup.

Likewise, on the second matchday of the championship, Chivas will play away to Rayados de Monterrey, which is why the red-and-white team will have its first game at the Akron on Saturday, July 26.
