Field Hockey: A good and a bad game for the Mendoza national team

The men's team was defeated by Buenos Aires, while the women's team secured their place in the final after defeating the Bahía Blanca Field Hockey team.

Nicolás Lara scored Mendoza's second goal against Buenos Aires. This Sunday, the Mendoza team will play against the locals (Litoral) in the qualifying round for third place.

This Saturday was a bittersweet day for Mendoza field hockey fans and lovers, as the senior women's team secured a place in the final, while the men's team will now face off for the bronze medal.

Franco Medici's team had no trouble defeating their Bahía Blanca counterparts 2-0. María Luz Rosso scored the first goal from a free kick in the third minute of the first quarter. Paula Lorenzini scored the second goal from a penalty corner in the eighth minute of the second quarter.

Afterwards, the Mendoza girls controlled the game as they wished.

This Sunday at 2 p.m., they will face the powerful Buenos Aires team in the grand final of the tournament. The Buenos Aires team defeated their counterparts from Córdoba in a penalty shootout, scoring 4-2. The match had ended 2-2 in regulation time.

The Mendoza team was trying to retain the championship they won last year in Mendoza, but they were unable to do so because they lost 3-2 to Buenos Aires in one of the semifinals.

The goals for Mendoza were scored by Carlos Nicito and Nicolás Lara. Bautista Poletti, Ramiro Infazón, and Felipe Merlini scored for Buenos Aires.

In the other tie, Córdoba defeated the local team of Litoral (Rosario), 5-1.

Now, Mendoza and Rosario will fight for the bronze at 10:20 a.m.
