Cañizares defends Dani Carvajal and criticizes Lamine Yamal and Vinícius: "No player is above the club."

Real Madrid and FC Barcelona played out one of the most controversial and intense Clásicos in recent years at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Whites took a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham , in a match marked above all by Lamine Yamal's statements before the match and Vinícius Jr's outburst with Xabi Alonso after he was substituted in the 73rd minute by Rodrygo Goes.

These two scenarios have, logically, been discussed in the different sports media in our country and both players have received certain criticism from experts and commentators, such as former player Santi Cañizares , who did not hesitate to express his point of view about the behavior of Yamal and Vini.

"The narcissistic displays they both displayed, one before and the other during the match, I think do nothing for their teams, and I believe the structure of clubs is broad and important enough to believe that no player should be above the club ," Cañizares himself added on Tiempo de Juego.

Likewise, Santi thinks that both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona should "call out" both players for their respective behavior and not allow them to do anything on or off the field: " There should be an ethics committee where they call the office and it would be a disgrace for any player. Call out both of them. The problem is that when a player is very good... he can allow anything."

Cañizares is with Carvajal

Once the match was over, one of the images of the match—and what sparked the final brawl —was when Dani Carvajal, captain of Real Madrid and the Spanish national team, approached Lamine Yamal to criticize him for the statements the Blaugrana star made a few days ago in the Kings League, where he had let slip that "Madrid steals."

However, Cañizares has sided with Carvajal and stressed that he "completely understands" why he has publicly disrespected the team he represents: " I understand Carvajal. I am the captain of Real Madrid and you have publicly disrespected me and I am eagerly awaiting your return. He represents the club, and I completely understand that, just as I understand the Barcelona bench. Vinícius doesn't know how to win and he doesn't know how to lose... so it's normal that they get up and say 'who are you to come here with a towel as if you had won something this afternoon'."
