Borussia Dortmund vs. Monterrey: Club World Cup Highlights

Borussia Dortmund vs. Monterrey: Club World Cup Highlights
— DAZN Football (@DAZNFootball) July 2, 2025

Two clear chances for Rayados! First, Sergio Canales came close to scoring with a left-footed shot from outside the box that just missed the top left corner.

Moments later, Jesús "Tecatito" Corona appeared on the left and unleashed a right-footed cross, forcing the Dortmund goalkeeper to make a low save just inside the post.

Nelson Deossa tried his luck from outside the box with a powerful left-footed shot, but his effort was saved by the Dortmund goalkeeper at the right post.

Monterrey responded to the German team's goal by creating danger in the opponent's goal. Tecatito fired a shot from outside the box that hit the crossbar, and Deossa shot again, but the ball fell into the goalkeeper's hands.

Rayados takes its turn pressing the opponent's penalty area. The Mexican team plays one-on-one against Dortmund in an intense match. In the midst of these actions, Deossa fires a shot from outside the box that ends up in the goalkeeper's hands.

The German team started the match playing in Rayados's penalty area; however, Monterrey managed to defend its zone and, little by little, gained more possession.

The ball starts rolling on the pitch at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

With their goal of advancing to the next round accomplished and as the only North American representative still in the competition, the Rayados de Monterrey will face Borussia Dortmund this Tuesday for a spot in the Club World Cup quarterfinals . The German team, one of the giants of European football, arrives with a somewhat unstable season.

The match will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the usual home of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and MLS's Atlanta United.

The Mexican team advanced to this stage after a strong performance in the group stage : they drew 1-1 against Inter Milan, the current European runners-up; a goalless draw with River Plate; and closed with a resounding 4-0 victory over Urawa Red Diamonds.
