Lo Monaco, former Catania manager in car accident

Fears are mounting for Pietro Lo Monaco , a historic Italian football manager with a distinguished past at Catania (his famous exchange with José Mourinho when the Portuguese coach was in charge of Inter Milan) and experience at many other clubs, including Genoa, Palermo, and Messina. Lo Monaco, 70, was involved in a car accident near Palermo on the night between Friday and Saturday. The current sporting director of Enna (Serie D) was driving his car when, for reasons still unclear, he lost control. Lo Monaco is hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Villa Sofia in the Sicilian capital. He is believed to have suffered several fractures, most significantly to his ribs, but is conscious and out of danger.
The message from EnnaThe news of the accident was confirmed by Enna Calcio , which posted a message of encouragement on social media: "Enna Calcio, in all its components, would like to extend heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to Director Pietro Lo Monaco, involved in a car accident yesterday. Come on, Director, get well soon! We look forward to seeing you at Gaeta! In the meantime, we will do everything we can to make you proud of our work, following your valuable advice!"
