Liverpool, February 26, 2025 – This is far from a memorable season for Federico Chiesa : the Italian, who moved to England on August 29 from Juventus , has yet to win over the fans, and is struggling to establish himself at Liverpool . So far, the former Fiorentina player has made just ten appearances this season, with one goal and two assists in 370 minutes in total for the Reds. Liverpool are facing tough competition, especially considering that the attacking front also includes Salah (30 goals and 21 assists this season), Gakpo (16 goals and 5 assists), Luis Diaz (13 goals and 3 assists), Diogo Jota (8 goals and 3 assists), Darwin Nuñez (6 goals and 5 assists) and sometimes Curtis Jones (3 goals and 6 assists). Injuries have also played against the Italian winger, who has had to miss 14 games due to a muscle problem, and has never managed to establish himself. So far, therefore, there is no doubt that Chiesa has disappointed despite having arrived with great expectations. For the Italian, however, it may not be over yet. A Premier League rule, in fact, states that to receive the medal a player must collect at least five appearances in the league, but Chiesa has stopped at three. Up to this point, the former Juventus player has played 18 minutes against Bournemouth on September 21, 3 minutes against Brentford on January 18 and four minutes against Ipswich seven days later. Given that he has only played three appearances, if Liverpool were to win the Premier League today Chiesa would not receive the medal, so for him it would be a "half victory". The last appearance with the reds shirt for the former Fiorentina player dates back to February 9, 2025, in the 1-0 defeat against Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the FA Cup . In addition to being Chiesa's last with the reds shirt, that match ended Liverpool's adventure in the Cup. The former Juventus number 7 needs to regain his form also in a national perspective, where in the last few months he has slipped down the hierarchy so much that he has not been called up in the last few gatherings. Liverpool coach Slot has spoken out on the situation of the number 14 several times, highlighting how the lack of preparation at the start of the season has affected the numerous benches of this first phase of the season. During the January transfer market there was talk of a possible farewell on loan, but in the end Chiesa has not moved from Liverpool, and if everything were to remain as it is now he would not even receive the medal in the event of a title victory by the Reds.
