Inzaghi's Al-Hilal eliminate Guardiola's City from Club World Cup: 4-3 after extra time

What a coup by Simone Inzaghi . Pep Guardiola 's Manchester City were surprisingly eliminated from the Club World Cup by the Saudi team coached by the former Inter coach: in the round of 16, the citizens were defeated 4-3 after extra time. The brace by Brazilian Marcos Leonardo was fundamental for the Riyadh team (goals in the 46th and 112th minutes). The Italian coach thus stopped another big name in world football, after the 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in the group.

The match ended 2-2 after the first 90 minutes plus injury time. The match was opened by a goal in the first half by Bruno Silva (City). In the second half the match was overturned by the Arabs with Marcos Leonardo and Malcom , then the equaliser by Haaland in the 55th minute. In extra time the goals scored were by former Napoli defender Koulibaly (Al-HIlal, in the 94th minute), Foden (City, 104') and again Marcos Leonardo, decisive in the 112th minute.

Inzaghi in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup against Fluminense

Inzaghi's next opponents, in the quarter-finals, will be the Brazilians of Fluminense who yesterday eliminated Inter ( 2-0 victory ). The challenge between Inzaghi and his former team, therefore, is postponed.
