Friuli Trophy Running: sixth round in Lignano, victories for Sgrazzutti and Trombetta

Lorenzo Sgrazzutti, a member of Atletica 2000 Codroipo, and Giulia Trombetta, a member of the Julian Prealps, won the overall "Lignano 1.5k," the sixth event of the Trofeo Friuli, held at the Teghil Stadium in the coastal town over the 1,500-meter distance. The race opened the day of the "Sport and Solidarity" international athletics meeting, held in the evening at the Viale Europa facility. It was the first and only track event of the newly formed running circuit. It was organized by Nuova Atletica dal Friuli, together with the FIDAL Provincial Committee of Udine.

Sgrazzutti finished the 1500 meters with a time of 4:17, finishing ahead of teammate Davide De Faveri, second in 4:24, and Matteo Del Piccolo (Atletica Buja), third with a time of 4:24 and the first place finisher among athletes registered for the Trofeo Friuli. He was followed by Matteo Monai (Piani di Vas, 4:25) and his teammate Fabio Stefanutti (4:25), who had won all the previous stages of the Trophy. Among the women, Trombetta, with an excellent time of 4:55, edged out Elisa Pivetta (Libertas Udine, 5:24) and Veronica Molaro (Atletica Buja, 5:27) in the overall and Trophy standings.

A total of 162 runners competed on the track: 149 of them are registered for the Trofeo Friuli, 13 are daily runners. The circuit is now taking a month and a half break. The next stage, the seventh, is scheduled for Sunday, September 6th and will be held in Latisana. It's called the "Tilment Trail," an off-road race, and is organized by the Athletic Club Apicilia. The Trofeo Friuli is open to all runners in the FIDAL absolute and master categories, Run Card holders, and members of sports promotion organizations recognized by FIDAL.
