European Indoor Athletics Championships, the list of 39 called up for Apeldoorn: here's who they are

Milan, 26 February 2025 – Technical director Antonio La Torre has announced the list of players called up for the European Indoor Athletics Championships scheduled in Apeldoorn (Netherlands) from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 March . 39 Italians have been selected, including 20 men and 19 women. The team includes the two jumpers who won the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics: Mattia Furlani in the long jump, author of the current world best 2025 performance of 8.37, and Andy Diaz in the triple jump, this year credited with 17.31. Two European champions from Rome 2024 have been called up: Leonardo Fabbri in the shot put, current world leader with 21.95, reigning world silver medalist outdoors and bronze indoors, and Lorenzo Simonelli in the 60 hurdles, world silver medalist last year. In the group other European medalists from the Olimpico such as Zaynab Dosso (60) already world indoor bronze, Larissa Iapichino (long jump), Catalin Tecuceanu (800), Luca Sito and Alice Mangione (400) and the reigning European indoor champions Zane Weir (shot put) and Samuele Ceccarelli (60). In the triple jump also Andrea Dallavalle (17.36 in Ancona), in the pole vault the Olympic finalist Elisa Molinarolo , multiple for Sveva Gerevini fourth at the World Indoor Championships. First call-up to the senior national team for the U20 world silver medalist in the high jump Matteo Sioli , fresh from 2.28 at the Indoor Championships, together with the other debutants Stephen Awuah Baffour (60), Giovanni Lazzaro (800), Eugenio Meloni (high jump), Idea Pieroni (high jump) and Virginia Scardanzan (pole jump).
