Florence, July 15, 2025 – A week of intense racing, with variable conditions, crowned the new Junior World Champions in the Spanish waters of the Mar Menor and gave Italy two splendid bronze medals in the 470 class . Dominating the overall standings were Israelis Roy Lavy and Ariel Gal, already mathematically champions on the penultimate day thanks to a series of impeccable results. They also won the title in the U21 Mixed category, confirming their undisputed superiority. The battle for the other steps of the podium was fierce, decided only in last Saturday's Medal Race . Silver went to Frenchmen Lomane Valade and Julien Bunel, while bronze was won by Italians Livia Ciampinelli , soon to be 21, from Florence , and Nicola Brunotti (both of the Circolo Velico Antignano ), protagonists of a consistent championship (they also finished in first place) and crowned by a prestigious medal. Lisa Vucetti and Vittorio Bonifacio (Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano), who finished eleventh overall, enjoyed the satisfaction of third place in the U21 Mixed rankings.

A highly experienced sailor despite her young age, Livia competed in the 420 class with Marcello Miliardi at the Rio de Janeiro World Championships in October 2023, where they won bronze in the 420 Mixed Class. She completed the 2024 season in the 470 class with Marcello Miliardi again at the helm, finishing third overall and first in the Under-24 category at the CICO (Italian Olympic Classes Championship) in September. For the 2025 season, she returned to crew with Nicola Brunotti, a fellow student in nautical engineering at the University of La Spezia, as bowman; while Marcello Miliardi has moved to Emma Maltese's bow. The Florentine sailor has thus joined the group of athletes of federal interest, to whom the Federation has added, in addition to longtime coach Chico Maltinti, a federal coach in Fabio Zeni under the supervision of Olympian Gabrio Zandonà. With Nicola Brunotti, they won every regatta in the 470 class's national ranking and participated in the European Championship in Split in June, which saw the participation of the world's strongest crews. The European Championship was won by the Spanish crew Xammar/Cardona (who then repeated their success at the World Championship); the 2025 Olympic gold medalist team finished in eighth place. After winning bronze in Spain, the pair is in Portugal to participate in the 470 U24 European Championship, with races scheduled from July 22nd to 27th. Their next appointment will be the CICO 2025 in Palermo at the end of October. They are sponsored by "Iris compagnia odontoiatrica," the Livorno-based company "Edilteco" specializing in architectural restoration, and the nautical rope manufacturer "Soluzioni tessuti."
