Pisa, February 24, 2025 – Important away success for IES Sport Pisa , in the low-ranking derby in Pontremoli , on the Cisa Service field, on the occasion of the sixth day of the return leg of the Regional Division 2 championship, group A. On the field of the third-last team, which had won the first leg in Pisa, coach Paolo Campani's men, assisted by Maurizio Neri and Federico Marazzato , managed to win over the distance, not without suffering, but deservedly, thus putting 6 points between them and the home team, with whom they are also ahead in direct clashes. With seven days to go in the regular season, only Basket Versilia, now fourth-last, seems to be the only opponent capable of competing with the Biancocelesti in the fight to avoid the Russian roulette of the play-outs.
THE REPORT – The first quarter was essentially tied, with the home team scoring the overtaking with 1 second to go, thanks to an offensive rebound with a conclusion from underneath ( 22-20 ). In the second period Villani and his teammates managed to reach a maximum advantage of 12 points, reduced to 7, before the break, due to a series of trivial errors ( 34-41 ). Upon returning to the field after the long interval, Morillo Gomez , who scored a total of 35 points, kept Pontremolese in the game, who came back to within 1 of Raimo and his teammates ( 51-52 ). The last, decisive, quarter was fought point by point, with IES reaching a maximum advantage of 5 points, maintained with great balance and determination until the end of the match, thanks to a triple by Raimo and free throws by Villani , who was lucid in punishing the opponent's systematic foul from the free throw line.
THE VALUES – On an evening in which the team returned to exceed 70 points, five players scored in double figures, Villani (10), Bonasera (13), Sciamanda (12), Veneziani (16) and Raimo (17), with Veneziani and Sciamanda very good and decisive also in the defensive phase, on the opponents' tall players.
