U13 football tournament goes south near Lyon: children and a coach from Caluire attacked

Parents of players intervened during a match during a tournament on Sunday, June 15, in the Lyon metropolitan area, targeting young people and a coach from Caluire.
It's a phenomenon that continues to be deplored and is on the rise. Violence around amateur football pitches ruined yet another sporting event over the weekend. As reported by Le Progrès , the Caluire U13 team and its staff were violently attacked on Sunday, June 15, during a tournament in Cailloux-sur-Fontaines, in the Lyon metropolitan area.
The violent scenes took place during a match between Caluire youths and Jassans Frans Football (Ain). After a goal scored by the Caluire youths, a parent of a player allegedly climbed the handrail to insult and grab one of the Caluire youths, who was being coached by Krishna Gopal. While attempting to intervene, the latter was ultimately assaulted by at least four people, according to his statements.

Injured to his teeth, face, and ribs, he was given three days of temporary incapacity for work. A volunteer from the organizing club, Saône Franc Lyonnais, told our colleagues that insults from the Caluire players had allegedly exacerbated the situation.
The police were called and were able to arrest the main suspect, a 53-year-old man. He is the subject of four complaints, including three from the young players' families. A disciplinary case has also been opened by the Lyon and Rhône district.
