Irishman Ben Healy soloed to victory in the 6th stage of the Tour de France on Thursday, July 10, in Vire, where Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel regained the yellow jersey for a second time, having been lost the day before to Tadej Pogacar.

Accustomed to romantic rides, an obligation according to him as he says he is "useless at sprinting" , Ben Healy lost his seven breakaway companions 42 km from the finish to go and collect, at 24 years old, the greatest success of his career in the Grande Boucle ,

The EF Education puncher, who had raised his arms two years ago in the Giro after already a solo raid, won with a lead of almost three minutes over the US champion Quinn Simmons and the Swiss Michael Storer.

A little further back, Mathieu van der Poel, who had also taken part in the breakaway with Simon Yates, Will Barta, Harold Tejada and Eddie Dunbar, took the opportunity to retake the yellow jersey on the eve of the finish in Mûr-de-Bretagne where he won in 2021.

Remco Evenpoel is third overall at 43 seconds, Kévin Vauquelin fourth at one minute and Jonas Vingegaard fifth at 1:14.

The 197 km of the 7th stage, on Friday, July 11, 2025, will take the peloton from Saint-Malo to Mûr-de-Bretagne. The Breton roads could smile on the punchers, but they will have to face the difficult climb of Mûr-de-Bretagne twice.

Christian Prudhomme, the Tour director, therefore warns against "hasty attackers." With the double climb that ends the stage, things could get complicated and "tactical sense" will be " almost as decisive as physical strength ."
