To close Villecro'sports, Villecroze will host the Ronde des Grottes on September 21

Since 2019, the town hall has taken over the organization of the Ronde cycliste des Grottes, an amateur sporting event from the 1950s which stopped in 1972.

The current edition is open to young competitors aged 19, elite category (hence the title U19 Race), future professionals because the race is an event which is part of the Paca regional championship counting for selection to the French championship.

Around a hundred competitors expected

This is a 22.2 km circuit (starting from Villecroze, Place de Gaulle, heading towards Tourtour and returning via the Flayosc road, Les Esparrus and passing through the square) to be covered five times, including a first section neutralised at the start up to the Tourtour bypass, the summit of the hill for the actual start.

Around a hundred competitors are expected for this Sunday, September 21, which will close the Villecro'sports weekend for all, scheduled for September 20 and 21.

Suffice to say that each rider will be keen to shine on this selective course in front of numerous spectators, delighted by Villecro'sports which allows everyone to practice a simple physical activity and attend this cycling event.

It was the Vidauban cycling club, co-organizer with the OCCHVD (Olympique cyclisme centre Var Draguignan), which delegated Serge Pascal, former amateur rider and former director of the Tour cycliste professionnel du Haut Var, to cover the official event of the French Cycling Federation.

The meeting, held at the town hall, aimed to bring together the organizers with the cooperation of the equipment services, the Salernes gendarmerie, the fire brigade, the CCFF (Municipal Forest Fire Committee) and the head of the Villecroze municipal technical center, Mathieu Guiol, and the Tourtour town hall.

As every year, there will be volunteer signallers equipped with a recognition vest.

The race will be patrolled by vehicles and motorcycles used to ensuring the safety of the riders on a circuit open to traffic. Let's hope the weather will be good for a well-organized and beautiful sporting event.
