Tennis: Second doubles title of the season for Romain Arneodo, crowned in Umag with Manuel Guinard

A second title this year for Romain Arneodo and Manuel Guinard! After winning a historic title at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters last April, the Franco-Monegasque duo has just claimed a second victory at the ATP 250 tournament in Umag, Croatia.
In the final this Friday, Romain Arneodo and Manuel Guinard defeated the American-British pair Thrac Willis in two sets (7-5, 7-6).
"It's special because we had few expectations for this week," recalls the Monegasque. "I was sick at the start of the week so I wasn't in the best condition to play. In the first round, we saved three match points so we started off pretty badly and, match after match, we built up momentum until this title which is nice because I haven't had many in my career."
Romain Arneodo is expected to reach his career-high doubles ranking this Monday, reaching world number 41 (up from 43 previously). But the man, who will celebrate his 33rd birthday in a few days, has his sights set even higher.
"It's always nice, even if it's a logical progression when you win matches. It's a ranking that doesn't yet allow you to enter the Masters 1000 draws, so the goal is to get into the Top 30."
