At the end of a breathless final day, the Top 14 season has delivered its verdict . The fight for the Brennus shield is about to begin. Stade Toulousain, the two-time defending champion, once again finished the season in first place, thus securing its direct ticket to the semi-finals. Toulouse will be joined by Bordeaux-Bègles, the recent European champion , who finished 2nd and also qualified directly for the semi-finals.
Behind Toulouse and UBB, the battle for the play-off places was tough: Toulon ( 3rd ) and Bayonne ( 4th ) were the first to qualify and will receive their respective play-offs. For Bayonne, it is a first in 33 years. They were joined by Clermont ( 5th ) and Castres ( 6th ), notably at the expense of La Rochelle.
