PSG-Bayern Munich: "All my prayers...", Donnarumma's apology to Musiala, seriously injured

The images were chilling and led people to fear the worst. And the worst has unfortunately been confirmed for Jamal Musiala. The 22-year-old German international suffered a serious ankle injury after a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on Saturday, shortly before halftime of the Club World Cup quarter-final , which the European champions won 2-0.
The reactions of his teammates, that of the very shocked Parisian goalkeeper and especially the images of his completely misaligned ankle left little room for doubt as to the seriousness of his injury. According to information from the German media BILD , Jamal Musiala suffers a fracture of the left fibula and several ligaments have also been affected. His absence is estimated at four or five months.
If his unavailability period is confirmed, the Bayern Munich player would therefore miss, almost entirely, the rest of 2025. This would be another huge blow for Musiala, who had already missed three months of competitive action due to a muscle tear that occurred in early April during his previous start. He missed the entire remainder of the season and only returned in mid-June for the Club World Cup.
While the first diagnoses had not yet been confirmed, Gianluigi Donnarumma was keen to support his opponent immediately after the match. The Parisian goalkeeper was visibly shocked. "All my prayers and best wishes for a good recovery are with you, Jamal Musiala," he wrote in the caption of a photo of himself holding his face, accompanied by the PSG psychologist.
PSG's official X account (formerly Twitter) also had a word for the player: "Parisien Saint-Germain wishes Jamal Musiala a speedy recovery." Despite these numerous reactions and apologies, Musiala's serious injury has not gone down well with his teammates, starting with Manuel Neuer. The Bavarian goalkeeper, very virulent, attacked his Italian counterpart , accusing him of having "taken the risk of injuring his opponent."
Gianluigi Donnarumma was nevertheless able to receive some significant support, in the form of Thibaut Courtois, who was interviewed in the mixed zone after Real Madrid's 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund . "Blaming Donnarumma for Musiala's injury seems excessive to me. The goalkeepers go looking for the ball. The attackers don't hold back when they come at us either. It's a stroke of luck. It hurts him (Neuer) even more because he's a teammate, but Donnarumma is not responsible," said the Belgian.
