Open water swimming: The Boucles de la Jemaye returns for a fourth edition

Open water swimming: The Boucles de la Jemaye returns for a fourth edition
Young people will also have their say on this edition. Departmental Swimming Committee

It's always a sporting and festive moment much appreciated by participants. This Sunday, September 14, on the natural site of the Grand Étang de La Jemaye, in the heart of Périgord, the departmental swimming committee is organizing the Boucles de la Jemaye.

There's likely to be a crowd at the Grand Étang de la Jemaye this Sunday. Especially since the weather, which has been unpredictable all week, will be milder, with a high of 24 degrees Celsius forecast and a few clouds. That doesn't mean the water will be warm, but the bravest will be there for the fourth edition of the Boucles de la Jemaye. An event endorsed by the French Swimming Federation (EDF) Aqua Challenge, it's now a must-do.

Open to all levels

Organized by the departmental swimming committee, this open water event offers several races, suitable for all participants, whether they are beginners or experienced swimmers. The Boucles de la Jemaye thus offer a unique experience for swimming enthusiasts. This fourth edition will also host two official stages: a stage of the French Open Water Cup and a stage of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Cup.

There will be six events on the program, for all levels, from 500 m to 5,000 m, swimmers will definitely find their challenge: The 500 m White Loop, the 1,000 m Green Loop, the 1,500 m Purple Loop, the 3,000 m Black Loop, the 5,000 m Le Coulobre Loop and La Périgourdine, a 4 x 500 m relay (mixed or not). Not forgetting the New Aquitaine junior championship in open water, over 300 m.

What's new

This year, the departmental swimming committee has decided to reward clubs. Individual and relay performances will count. The club that accumulates the most points (women and men) will take home the trophy for best club. A special draw is also planned. Each registered swimmer will automatically be entered into this draw, to try to win a weekend for two people. "One entry per registered race: the more you swim, the more chances you have," explains the swimming committee. This will encourage participants to register en masse and enjoy the magnificent natural setting of the Jemaye pond and also compete against others, in a joyful and good-natured atmosphere. Entertainment, music, and food/snack areas will also await participants and their companions throughout the day.

Please note, the departmental swimming committee reminds that the number of caps is limited. Registration is therefore mandatory and must be done online to guarantee your place, via this registration link: https://www.ffneaulibre.fr/evenements/voir/6286/les-boucles-de-la-jemaye-etape-coupe-defrance-eau-libre-etape-coupe-regionale-lnna-la-jemaye.
