LeBron James, Didier Drogba, Rafael Nadal, Tom Brady... sports legends in Monaco for the electric boat world championship

LeBron James, Tom Brady, Didier Drogba, Rafael Nadal… In the E1 Series paddocks, nestled on the quayside of the Yacht Club de Monaco, sporting legends attracted all eyes and photographers' lenses this Saturday, July 19 in the Principality.

Star owners of electric boat teams competing in this innovative world championship, they did not, however, taste victory in Monegasque waters.

To everyone's surprise, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli's Blue Rising team won the Monaco round after a particularly close day of racing in difficult conditions. The drivers, John Peeters and Sara Misir, received their trophy from Alejandro Agag, founder and president of E1.

"One of the most spectacular races the E1 has ever seen"

Defending champion and "water champion," Team Brady finished second despite dominating the previous race sessions. In the overall standings, they reclaimed the lead from Team Rafa, who were involved in a dramatic high-speed crash on Friday . The fight for the world title remains tight.

"The race here in Monaco was one of the most spectacular E1 has ever seen. It reflected the rich heritage of motorsport in this country, with suspense and danger at every turn," said Rodi Basso, founder and CEO of E1.

The next rounds of the championship will be played in Lagos (Nigeria) then in Miami for an explosive finale.
