Injured after her first title, Nice tennis player Loïs Boisson withdraws from the WTA 1000 in Montreal

French No. 1 Lois Boisson (world number 44), who won her first title on the main circuit in Hamburg on Sunday , withdrew from the WTA 1000 in Montreal on Tuesday (July 27-August 7) due to a left adductor injury.
"I had an ultrasound this morning following pain in my left adductor that occurred during the Hamburg tournament and it appears that I need a little more time to rest and take care of myself in the best possible way," wrote the surprise semi-finalist at the last Roland-Garros on her Instagram account.
Consequently, the 22-year-old player licensed with TC Nice-Giordan is withdrawing from the Montreal tournament, a withdrawal which she says she is "very disappointed" about.
"It was not an easy decision, but staying healthy is the priority for me," concluded the Frenchwoman, who seriously injured her left knee just before the 2024 edition of Roland-Garros.
Ranked 361st in the world before Roland-Garros, Loïs Boisson created a sensation by reaching the semi-finals of the Parisian tournament at the beginning of June, beating top 10 members Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva along the way.
She has since failed in the first round of qualifying for Wimbledon, on a grass court she was new to, and lost in the second round of the WTA 125 on clay in Bastad (Sweden), a tournament on the second tier of the women's circuit.
On her favorite surface, Boisson then won the first WTA title for a French player since November 2022 in Hamburg, allowing her to enter the top 50 for the first time in her career a month before the US Open (August 24-September 7).
