Herculis Meeting: No new world record for star pole vaulter Armand Duplantis this Friday evening in Monaco

Armand Duplantis failed to improve his own pole vault world record this Friday evening at the Stade Louis-II in Monaco, during the 39th Herculis meeting. With 6.05 m, the Swede simply won the competition and beat the meeting record held since 2019 by Poland's Piotr Lisek (6.02 m). He failed three times at 6.29 m.
This Monday, during a meeting with six of our readers, Armand Duplantis explained that he intended to "prove things" in Monaco, this Friday, in a Louis-II stadium which had only seen him win once in three participations, in 2020 with a jump of 6.00 m.
The Swede said he was " disgusted" at not having yet performed at his best in the Principality. He also promised that he would not "miss" twice in a row in the same meeting, even though he had suffered his last defeat in 2023 on the Rock (4th with 5.72 m).
This Friday, the 25-year-old double Olympic champion kept his word. He banished much of his past frustrations by winning the Herculis competition with a new meeting record. With a jump of 6.05 m, validated on his first attempt, he erased the 6.02 m set by Poland's Piotr Lisek. A mark that had stood since 2019.
However, he failed in his quest for his thirteenth world record. Nearly a month after raising it to 6.28 m on June 15 at home in Stockholm, he stumbled three times over 6.29 m.
