Skip the adThe case had been lingering in the corridors of the Cameroon Football Federation for three years. And it was the former coach, Toni Conceiçao, who emerged as the big winner in this affair. The Cameroonian government announced that it would pay 1.8 million euros in compensation and penalties owed for three years to its former Portuguese coach Toni Conceiçao and his assistants, after a conviction for "abusive termination of contract" .
The Ministry of Sports will settle in place of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot) which "was not able to execute its financial sentence" , according to a press release from the Ministry of Sports. The Portuguese coach and his staff were dismissed in February 2022 after the defeat against Egypt in the semi-final of the CAN 2022 organized in Cameroon (0-0, 3 tab to 1).
This affair has revived recurring tensions between the ministry and the Federation, in disagreement over the situation of the current coach, the Belgian Marc Brys, chosen by the Ministry of Sports and whom the president of Fécafoot, the former glory Samuel Eto'o, did not want.
In its press release, the Ministry of Sports invites the Federation "to a less impulsive and more responsible management" to avoid "unnecessary additional expenses" . Fécafoot responded by denouncing this message of "provocation and insults" and affirming that the decision to terminate the Portuguese had been acted on at the highest level by President Paul Biya.
